Alec Farmer, founder of Trakke, recently invited us to visit his Glasgow workshop and to join him on a wild camping adventure. The trip had been a long time coming and had its roots in last year's Good Life Experience. After the five hour drive up from Sheffield we called in to Alec's workshop a little later than planned. It was gone 5pm on a Friday afternoon but he was still there tying off loose ends long after his team had headed home for the weekend.
We spent that evening trading stories and planning our adventure over food and drinks down Ashton Lane and before we finally turned in for the night, Alec brought out the good stuff and we all enjoyed dram of whiskey. The next day, with three well-laid plans and a forecast for heavy rain hampering all three, we took a risk and headed east from Glasgow towards Edinburgh then Berwick and onwards to Tyninghame. After ditching the cars we set off walking towards the beach, through a woodland punctuated with old concrete anti-tank defences from the Second World War and we eventually emerged to the rising tide rolling in. We'd planned this well.
Pitching our tents high above the tideline we settled in and talked long into the night of adventures past and promised, ate and drank well by the fire and enjoyed good company.

A special thanks to Alec and Dakota for their hospitality and company and also for the incredible breakfast and persistence in getting the fire lit.
