[ Operations have really started to pick up pace recently at The All Night Listening Post. So much so that I've had to call in re-inforcements. You may have noticed that the photography on the site and Instagram has got a lot better of late. That's mainly due to Fern. Joining the blog in a more established role, Fern will be writing, taking pictures and working with me on content on a much more regular basis from here on in. You can read more on this on the updated about page. Here's Fern to introduce the new 'In The Field' series: ]
Photography has only recently become my side project of choice.
Until around six months ago, the only one of us in danger of acquiring premature crow’s feet around their squinting, non-viewfinder eye was Arran. Back then, I was either the reluctant subject or useless apprentice. I’d pose awkwardly in front of walls that were far more interesting than my face and hover around as Arran shot meticulously styled flatlays of leather wallets, khaki notebooks and NATO watch straps upon wooden floorboards.
While those signature flatlays of are still very much part of Arran’s ista-oeuvre, eagle eyed readers will have noticed that something else has been added to the mix.
Arran, Mr TANLP himself, has emerged from behind the lens, and now parades an endless array of OOTDs on an almost weekly basis.
And me? Well, I’ve somehow become his personal photographer... and I’m actually loving it!
Arran’s been pleading with me to write something for The All Night Listening Post for a while. Until now I didn’t feel I had all that much to contribute. The more I’ve become involved in creating content for the blog, however, the more confident I feel about having a presence on the site.
After a bit of brainstorming, I came up with the idea of a new series where I share my thoughts and reflections on accidentally becoming TANLPs resident portrait photographer. I’ll be posting these over the next few weeks, so watch this space!
/ Keep Listening.
