I won't lie - I've got a bit of problem with jackets. I've got a mounting collection hung on the back of doors and kitchen chairs, in the wardrobe and in the back of the car, its a growing concern. This obsession for the perfect outdoors jacket has been going on for most of my life; I've tried every style, every technical fabric and every big name brand and nothing had quite hit the spot. Yet.
I was only saying the other day that it's getting harder and harder to cut through the swathes of copycat brands and products on Kickstarter these days which (eventually) makes trawling the crowdfunding platform a more rewarding experience when you come across a real gem like the JECKYBENG Jacket - An all season long coat inspired by the classic military parka, updated with an outstanding fabric, great trims and a contemporary fit. To top it off, the Jacket is totally PFC free.
Constructed from 100% organic cotton, swiss fabric which is weatherproof from the freezing summits of the alps to the hot winds of the Savanna. The jacket provides a totally windproof barrier to protect against wind-chill and the unique PFC-free finish provides outstanding water repellency. The jacket is designed in Germany and made in Europe in a family owned factory.
Bavarian brand JECKYBENG was founded in 2011 by graphic designer Moritz Lorenz who wanted to combine his love for design with his passion for the great outdoors. The brand is part of the ever growing urban outdoor movement of inspired urbanites who strive to see the world from a different perspective. JECKYBENG just has one question for this new school of urbanite adventurers - why is society always competing with nature instead of striving to achieve harmony? JECKYBENG is a brand for all who are searching for deceleration, sustainability and balance – those who want to rediscover nature.
I'm a big fan of the idea behind this jacket - I love the little details and colourway, the specification makes it a pretty versatile piece which begs the question - why do we have a jacket for every occasion in our wardrobes, one for the city and one for the outdoors?
At the time of writing the Kickstarter campaign has 31 backers and has raised €7,382 of its €7,500 goal with 22 days remaining which is good news for the team at JECKYBENG. Theres some nice rewards on offer for pledging your support - limited edition prints, t-shirts and merino beanies.
